REIMAGINE METRO
Santa Cruz METRO is in the midst of a significant expansion and realignment of the transit network in Santa Cruz County which will increase the amount of transit service, and make transit more useful and attractive for people throughout the community.
The first wave of Reimagine METRO service changes was implemented in December 2023. More service will be added in March 2024.
And big changes are planned for September 2024.
Here is a brief overview of what has happened so far and where we are headed.

We held a series of meetings in February to review upcoming changes and invite input about the wave of changes coming in March 2024.
Community members participated at in-person at locations across Santa Cruz County and via Zoom. Meetings included a presentation by the project team, followed by questions and answers and input to the proposed changes.

Project Objectives
Comprehensive evaluation of METRO's fixed bus routes.
Engagement with riders, potential riders and the broader community.
Updating the bus network to be more convenient, reliable and sustainable.
Develop Early Wins for quick improvements to existing METRO service by early 2024.
Propose Alternatives for increased METRO service in future and gather public feedback.
Develop a Plan for increased service by 2025 and further improvements by 2030.
