Buy METRO Passes... Save Money... Save Time Boarding...

Santa Cruz METRO offers a selection of disposable paper  Passes and Cash Cards as listed below.  These cards have a magnetic strip that is read by the farebox upon boarding. When these cards expire or all cash value has been used, the card must be discarded.

Starting  June 7, 2012 METRO will offer CRUZ CASH and CRUZ PASS cards. These are programmable plastic cards the size of a credit card with an embedded memory chip.

• The CRUZ CASH Card can be loaded with $10, $20, $30 or $50 dollars. These are the same denominations as METRO’s magnetic cash cards.
• The CRUZ PASS Card can be loaded with any one of the 9 pass products METRO offers.
  

Upon boarding a bus, the customer taps their CRUZ PASS card or CRUZ CASH card on the red circle on the farebox. The proper fare is deducted or the pass is validated by the farebox. These long lasting cards make boarding easier and faster and eliminate the use of disposable paper products.

STARTING SEPTEMBER 1, 2012 THERE WILL BE A $3.00 CHARGE ADDED FOR EACH "SMART" CARD PURCHASED. A FREE LANYARD & PLASTIC CARD CARRIER WILL BE INCLUDED WITH EACH PURCHASE.
