Dollar bills are accepted in Metro fare boxes, but operators cannot make exact change.

METRO Pass Outlet Locations

Transfers
There are no transfers on METRO Buses. A fare must be purchased for each boarding.
Save money by purchasing a Day Pass if you will ride three times or more in a day!

Transfers are available for connecting to Monterey Salinas Transit (MST) in Monterey County.
These are issued on request at time fare is paid; transfers are not issued at the Watsonville Transit Center.
SCMTD Transfers and Day Passes are good for unlimited travel in the MST North Zone only.
Monthly Pases are not honored by MST, a transfer is required.

Metro Discount Fares
Note: Riders from elsewhere may ride Santa Cruz METRO at discounted fare by showing valid proof of eligibility
(either of age or disability) issued by the transit system in their home area.

Proof of Eligibility:
Discount fares and tickets may be purchased from METRO bus operators and Transit Center Agents
with valid photo ID (such as State Drivers License or Senior ID) AND one of the following:
  • For Seniors (at least 62 years of age):
    • A Metro Discount Photo ID Card.
    • A Metro Paracruz ID card.
    • A Discount Photo ID Card issued by another transit agency.
    • A Medicare ID Card Identification (e.g. passports & birth certificates) that display date of birth.
  • For Persons with Disabilities:
    • A Metro Discount Photo ID Card.
    • A Metro Paracruz ID card.
    • A Discount Photo ID Card issued by another transit agency.
    • A Medicare ID Card.
    • A valid ID Card for a California Disabled Person Parking Placard.
    • A Disabled Veteran's ID Card
  • For Others with a Medicare ID Card and photo ID
Children
The children of Metro riders using Metro Discount Photo ID Cards can ride at the Discount fare rate when accompanying their parents. Parents must complete a Registration Form available at the Santa Cruz Metro Center (Pacific Station) to qualify for this extended coverage.

Attendants
Persons with disabilities who require an attendant are only required to pay one discount rate fare. To qualify, your Certification Form must indicate that you need an attendant, and you must alert the Metro advisor when submitting the Certification Form. A green dot will then be placed on the Discount Photo ID Card that allows you to receive this benefit.
