In addition to two readings of the fare ordinance, public hearings were held in Santa Cruz and San Jose in November 2001 to gather input and to explain the proposed changes. Bus passengers and members of the public also attended board meetings to address the transit district on the fare increases. In addition, interested individuals were able to send their views by e-mail or letter to METRO.
The Highway 17 transit service is operated by METRO in conjunction with the Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) in Santa Clara County. Passengers who wish to buy monthly passes can do so either in person at METRO and VTA facilities and at various ticket agents in Santa Cruz and Santa Clara counties. Passes are also available by mail. For additional information and assistance, contact METRO Customer Service at (831)-425-8600.
