Metro Fall Service will begin on September 22^nd

METRO announced today that Summer Service has been extended through September 21^st, with the exception of UCSC School Term and Night Owl Service, which will begin operating on the Fall Schedule on September 19^th

The extension of the Summer Schedule will provide the time necessary for METRO to reschedule the work in order to comply with the California Industrial Welfare Commission’s Wage Order #9 mandating that one 30 minute lunch break and two 10 minute rest breaks be incorporated into each bus operators daily work. The implementation of the provisions of the IWC Wage Order #9 was included in METRO’s Last, Best, and Final Offer to the United Transportation Union Local 23 that was implemented by the Board of Directors effective September 1, 2005.

METRO General Manager Les White stated, “ I am pleased that we are now able to implement service improvements that will benefit our bus riders”.
