Cynthia Mathews

Cynthia Mathews is currently serving her sixth term on the Santa Cruz City Council. Over the years she has provided leadership as both council member and community volunteer for a wide range of issues including environmental protection, historic preservation, local economic vitality, neighborhood services, arts and cultural activity, education and libraries, community health, public safety, and housing. Now retired, she was for many years the Public Affairs Director for Planned Parenthood in Santa Cruz County. She and her husband live in downtown Santa Cruz, with grown children and extended family nearby.
